Coast Guard searches for missing man off Port Aransas, Texas

090127-8744K-0072CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Coast Guard crews are continuing to search for a missing 21-year-old man who went missing near Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas, Saturday afternoon.

Missing is Patrick Clark, a 5-foot 8-inch black man last seen wearing a white tank top and black shorts.

The Coast Guard joined the search with lifeguards and Port Aransas Police Department personnel after being notified at about 3:30 p.m. Clark and two others were reportedly swimming near the pier and had trouble getting back in around 2:30 p.m. The others notified authorities after Clark did not return.

The Coast Guard has searched multiple sorties with an Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew. A Station Port Aransas response boatcrew has been on scene searching since the beginning and is being relieved by the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Brant, who will be continuing the search throughout the night.
