ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.- The Coast Guard is continuing to search today for a boater who was reported missing off the coast of Ocean City, N.J., Sunday afternoon.
The Coast Guard was notified just after noon Sunday that John Glenn, 58, from Beesley’s Point, N.J., was missing. Glenn reportedly got underway from Ocean City Marina by himself aboard his 27-foot pleasure craft, the White Whale, and was last seen while refueling at the Seaview Marina.
The Coast Guard directed the launch of an HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City at 1:50 p.m., to search for Glenn. At 2:57 p.m., an HC-130 Hercules long-range aircraft from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., joined the search. A rescue boatcrew from Station Atlantic City launched at midnight and searched until 2:45 a.m.
An HH-65C Dolphin crew searched until this afternoon while an HC-130 Hercules crew continues the search for Glenn.
