NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a man who went missing on Lake Pontchartrain after a boat allided with the Causeway Bridge, one mile north of Metairie, Sunday.
At approximately 9:50 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans Command Center received a report from 911 dispatch that a small pleasure craft with four men aboard, allided with the causeway bridge.
Two of the men were able to climb aboard their sinking boat and one managed to place a call to 911 requesting assistance.
An additional man was pulled from the water by a 25-foot Coast Guard response boat and crew from Coast Guard Station New Orleans.
A second 25-foot response boat and crew, along with an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and the Causeway Police are assisting with the search.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
