Coast Guard searches for missing boater near Panama City

MOBILE, Ala. – The Coast Guard is searching for a 40 year-old man that went missing Friday, in the vicinity of Panama City, Fla.

At approximately 7 a.m., Friday, the Coast Guard received a report from the motor vessel Margaret that a pleasure craft had overturned in East Bay, near Panama City, with two persons aboard. The motor vessel Margaret rescued one person.

Assets and agencies searching for the second missing person are:

  • Coast Guard Cutter Bonito and crew, homeported in Pensacola, Fla.
  • MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala.
  • Two 25-foot Response Boats – Small and crews from Coast Guard Station Panama City
  • Sea Tow
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissions
