Coast Guard restores communication Coast Guard Sector Columbia River command center

d13WARRENTON, Ore. — Coast Guard Sector Columbia River’s communication network is back online following a communication outage caused by a storm March 10, 2016.

Watchstanders at the Sector Columbia River Command Center announced Thursday morning that communications were down at the center, but have since fixed the issues and restored both network and phone communications.

“Again, I would like to thank the agencies who provided us assistance while our communications were down,” said Chief Petty Officer Matthew Degerolamo, command duty officer, Sector Columbia River. “With their help, and with the help of our skilled Coast Guardsmen at Sector Columbia River, we were able to restore communications and minimize impact to our response capabilities.”

The agencies that provided assistance during this outage included city and county dispatch centers, the Columbia River Bar Pilots and the Merchant Exchange.

Mariners in need of assistance are reminded to utilize VHF radio channel 16 or contact the command center at 503-861-6211.
