LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Clean-up efforts have concluded for the Coast Guard and other agencies who responded to an oil spill that occurred, February 3, 2010, from a commercial container vessel located in the West Basin of Los Angeles Harbor.
All involved parties involved, including the commercial oil spill response organization and the shipping company, were cooperative through the duration of the cleanup which included supervision from Coast Guard pollution investigators, personnel from the California Department of Fish & Game and the Los Angeles Port Police.
At the end of the cleanup, the Unified Command conducted a thorough inspection of the vessel to ensure all product was recovered from the vessel's deck and hull. The environmental threat, resulting from the oil spill, has been eliminated and all recoverable pollution was properly disposed.
The cause of the spill is currently being investigated.
