Coast Guard Response to Late for Heart Attack Victim

BOSTON – A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod, Mass. responded to a report of a crewman suffering from cardiac distress 200 miles south of Nantucket, Mass., today.

The HH-60 Jayhawk aircrew launched about 10:15 to medically evacuate a man from the Indian-flagged vessel Lok Maheshwari.

Once on scene, about 11:30 a.m., the air crew hoisted him into the helicopter and determined he was dead.

The aircrew landed at Hyannis Airport, Mass., about12:30 p.m. where the man was transferred to an awaiting ambulance.
