Coast Guard responds to vessel taking on water near Sunshine Skyway Bridge

TAMPA, Fla. – The Coast Guard is giving assistance to seven people aboard a small pleasure craft, Saturday, approximately 1 mile south of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a report at 7:00 p.m. from the Manatee County Sheriff’s office of a vessel in distress, after a 911 call was received from persons aboard a vessel, reporting they were taking on water.

A Coast Guard Station Cortez 25-foot response boat crew was immediately launched and arrived on scene at 7:13 p.m. The boatcrew activated a pump and continues to dewater the vessel. Three adults and four children are aboard the 17-foot craft.
