Coast Guard responds to vessel taking on water near Pass A Loutre, Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard responded to a 30-foot vessel taking on water with one person aboard near Pass A Loutre, Louisiana, Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at approximately 6:23 p.m. of the vessel taking on water.

Sector New Orleans watchstanders directed the launch of a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Venice, Louisiana, and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to assist the person.

A Good Samaritan vessel arrived on scene, transferred the person onto their boat and transported the survivor to shore.
