Coast Guard responds to sunken abandoned vessel, pollution near Hollywood

MIAMI — The Coast Guard is responding to a sunken 50-foot abandoned houseboat Tuesday near Hollywood, Florida.

Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Miami were notified at approximately 8 a.m., from a good Samaritan of a 100-yard oil sheen coming from the sunken 50-foot houseboat, Wooden Nickelhouseboat, Wooden Nickel.

Sector Miami pollution investigators are responding and working with commercial cleanup crews from Cliff Barry Inc., to assist.

The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the incident.
