Coast Guard responds to small plane crash near Kodiak

KODIAK, Alaska — A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew responded to small plane crash near Kodiak Friday evening.

The Coast Guard receivced notification from Kodiak Police and Fire Department crews of a small plane crash in Kalsin Bay at 7:40 p.m. and directed the launch of the helicopter crew.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene at 8:11 p.m. and hoisted two people from the crash and flew them to the air station. They were met by local emergency medical services who took the two to Kodiak Island Providence Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Kodiak Fire Department crews and Alaska State Troopers stayed on scene to work on rescuing the third person from the aircraft.
