LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard responded to a report of a substance near Summerland Beach that occurred Friday at around 3 p.m.
The Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach command center received a report of an approximately 300-yard substance near Summerland Beach. The Coast Guard immediately launched Marine Safety Detachment Santa Barbara to investigate.
The Santa Barbara Public Health Department has closed Summerland Beach until further notice.
The Coast Guard urges the public and boaters to not come in contact with the substance and remain a safe distance from any visible sheen.
