Coast Guard responds to report of man falling from highway 90 bridge

MORGAN CITY, La. – The Coast Guard and local agencies are responding to a report of a man jumping off the Highway 90 bridge in Morgan City.

A watchstander at Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City received a report at approximately 1 p.m. from the St. Mary’s Parish Sheriff’s office that a white male with a black hooded sweatshirt had been seen jumping from the Highway 90 bridge in Morgan City.

A 25-foot response boat crew from MSU Morgan City and an HH-65C rescue helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans have been launched to assist in the search for the man. Also searching are a boat crew from the St. Mary’s Sheriff’s office and a boat crew from the Patterson Fire Dept.
