ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – A Coast Guard boatcrew is responding to a report of two people on a boat taking on water about 15 miles east of Mayport, Fla., Tuesday night.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville were notified about 9:15 p.m. of a 24-foot fishing vessel taking on water and in need of assistance.

A boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Mayport immediately launched and arrived on scene about 10:20 p.m. A Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department boat also responded. Once on scene, the Coast Guardsmen learned the vessel was taking waves over the side, and on-board de-watering pumps were keeping up with the flooding.

Coast Guard and JFRD boatcrews are currently escorting the vessel in to port in Atlantic Beach.
