Coast Guard Responds to Plane Crash

LOS ANGELES- The Coast Guard responded to a report of a mid-air collision, off of Point Vicente at 3:05 p.m. today.

The Coast Guard was notified that two small aircraft had collided, and one had crashed into the water off of Cabrillo Beach. Shortly after arriving on scene, crew members of a Coast Guard 25ft response boat from Station Los Angeles-Long Beach helped the 82 year old male pilot to shore. The pilot was treated at the scene, and transported to a local area hospital by the LA City Fire Department. The second plane involved in the incident landed safely at the Torrance Airport.
