Coast Guard Responds to Plane Crash Near Bayou Lafourche, LA

At approximately 4 p.m., today a watchstander at Coast Guard Station Grand Isle received a report of the collision from the Port Fourchon Harbor Police. A Coast Guard rescue boat crew, Coast Guard Auxiliary boat crew and Coast Guard Auxiliary seaplane crew were dispatched to assist.

At 4:05 p.m. the Coast Guard rescue boat crew arrived on scene to discover the two deceased persons had been recovered by local authorities and the two injured persons had been rescued. All persons on the aircraft and recreational boat have been accounted for.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
