Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West were notified by a Good Samaritan vessel at 12:38 p.m. Sunday that an 18-foot skiff with three people aboard had overturned after losing its engine and taking water over the side.
The three people aboard went into the water, but managed to climb onto the hull.
Coast Guard Station Islamorada had a small boat crew underway and diverted to the position, arriving on scene within ten minutes.
Once on scene, the boat crew retrieved the three victims from the hull of the overturned vessel and transferred them to a friend’s vessel operating in the area. No injuries were reported.
