Coast Guard responds to overturned crane in Absecon Bay, NJ

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The Coast Guard responded Tuesday to an overturned crane in Absecon Bay that leaked approximately 50 gallons of hydraulic fluid before it was secured.

The crane operator was taken to a local hospital for a possible head injury.

While loading the fishing boat Michael Junior, the crane car toppled over and spilled the hydraulic fluid. A local environmental control team is on scene and has deployed two small sections of containment boom to prevent the hydraulic fluid from spreading.

A boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City is on scene monitoring the situation.

Atlantic City Police Department personnel
EMS personnel

The cause of the incident is under investigation by Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay personnel.
