BOSTON — The Coast Guard, along with other agencies, responded to a call of an overturned boat Saturday in Buzzard’s Bay.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England’s command center received notification at approximately 10 a.m. Saturday of an overturned 14-foot recreational boat with two people aboard.
A 45-foot response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape Cod Canal and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod launched to search the area.
The search ended when the boat crew located a good Samaritan who confirmed they had recovered the two people from the water at about 8 a.m. and had brought them safely to shore.
No injuries were reported.
“It was fortunate that nearby mariner was quickly able to rescue the two people, especially with water temperatures still low,” said Scott Backholm, the command duty officer at Sector Southeastern New England’s command center.
