PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard personnel responded Tuesday night to a report of an oil sheen near the mouth of the York River.
A Virginia Marine Resources Commission aircraft reported that the sheen was approximately one mile long.
A recreational boater notified the Coast Guard at approximately 2:30 p.m. of the existence of a sheen. The Coast Guard launched a crew aboard a 25-foot Response Boat-Small from Station Milford Haven and dispatched a team of investigators from Norfolk, Va. to the scene to determine the cause of the sheen.
