SEATTLE – The Coast Guard responded to a report of a 61-foot sailing vessel that ran aground in the vicinity of Blakely Island, Wash., Friday.
The sailing vessel, Carlyn, ran aground with 31 people aboard including 25 passengers and six crew members.
A 41-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle was dispatched to the scene in order to assess the incident.
Rescuers successfully evacuated the passengers and transported them to the nearest safe haven.
There have been no reports of pollution or injuries.
