Coast Guard responds to grounded vessel in Grays Harbor

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard responded to a vessel grounded near the east end of the north jetty at Grays Harbor, Wash., Monday.

At 10:18 a.m. Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor, received a call from a crewman aboard the 56-foot fishing vessel Macard reporting that the vessel had run aground.

Station Grays Harbor launched two 47-foot motor life boat crews and Air Station Astoria, Ore., launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew.

The vessel was reported to be taking on a small amount of water and was in an area where no other vessels could assist.

The helicopter crew lowered a dewatering pump and a rescue swimmer to help.

The two crewmen are waiting for high tide to attempt to free the vessel.
