Coast Guard responds to flooding near Beaumont, Texas

HOUSTON — Coast Guard crews are responding to reports of flooding near Beaumont, Texas, Thursday.

Shallow water response teams from Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Baton Rouge as well as helicopters from Coast Guard Air Station Houston are standing by to respond to requests for assistance.

Coast Guard members are currently staged in the emergency operations centers in Jefferson County, Harris County and the City of Houston.

People in distress should use 911 to request assistance. Social media should not be used to report life-threatening distress due to limited resources to monitor the dozens of social media platforms during a large-scale rescue event.
