Coast Guard responds to downed aircraft in Altamaha River, Ga.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard responded to a downed aircraft in Darien, Ga., Monday.

Operational watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received notification of a downed ultra-light aircraft due to an emergency landing in the Altamaha River in the vicinity of Two Way Fish Camp at approximately 9:15 a.m. Monday.

The downed aircraft operator and only passenger was Thomas Sarce.

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin air rescue crew arrived on scene and hoisted Sarce at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Sarce had no reported injuries and was transported to the Brunswick airport.
