Coast Guard responds to disabled sailing vessel off Goleta Beach

CHANNEL ISLANDS HARBOR, Calif. — The Coast Guard responded Sunday to a report of a disabled sailing vessel with one person on board approximately 200 yards off Goleta Beach, Calif.

Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a call from the boater’s father, who stated that the vessel’s anchor line was wrapped around the prop.

A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor was dispatched to the scene, where they transferred the stranded boater to the 47-foot Motor Life Boat and safely transported him to Santa Barbara Harbor.

The sailing vessel will stay at anchor until the boater can return to retrieve it. There are no injuries and no signs of pollution.
