Coast Guard responds to capsized vessel near Bodega Bay

SAN FRANCISCO — Coast Guard personnel responded to a capsized vessel and people in the water near Bodega Bay Saturday morning.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders received notification at approximately 10 a.m., from a local mariner about a capsized vessel and possible people in the water near Seal Rock. A Coast Guard Station Bodega Bay smallboat crew was diverted from training to respond.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter aircrew recovered one conscious person on the rocks. The Bodega Bay response boatcrew recovered the four unresponsive people from the water and transferred them to a Sonoma County Fireboat crew.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
