HAMPTON, Va. – Coast Guard crews along with Hampton and Norfolk Fire Departments and Good Samaritans on two boats responded to a capsized 18-foot May-craft this afternoon.
At approximately noon, Sector Hampton Roads received a report of a capsized boat approximately one mile east of Fort Monroe.
Two Good Samaritans responded and rescued four people from the water, and transported them to Old Point Comfort Marina in Hampton. Emergency responders transported the four people to Sentara CarePlex Hospital. One of the four individuals died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the incident. The remaining three persons are being treated for minor injuries.
The Coast Guard is investigating the cause the incident.
