MIAMI — The Coast Guard is responding to a reported incident involving a yacht and the Broad Causeway bridge in Miami Tuesday evening.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Miami command center received a report of an incident involving the east bridge of the causeway and a yacht, which made contact while the vessel was being towed by two tug boats. Fifteen people were reported to be aboard the yacht with no injuries.

It is unknown at this time how the bridge and yacht came into contact with one another. The yacht is no longer in contact with the east bridge, which connects North Miami to Bay Harbor Islands and Bal Harbor. Large vessels are currently unable to transit under the bridge. Vehicle traffic across the bridge is also restricted at this time.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is investigating the cause of the incident.
