Coast Guard responds to boat taking on water near Crisfield, Md.

Coast Guard Station St. Joseph accepts new 45-foot RB-MBALTIMORE — The Coast Guard responded to a boat taking on water Wednesday near the mouth of the Big Annemessex River.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received a report from a crewmember aboard a 23-foot boat via VHF-FM marine radio channel 16 at approximately 3 p.m. stating the boat he was on was taking on water.

Sector Baltimore watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew from Coast Guard Station Crisfield to respond.

Once on scene, the RB-M crew passed a dewatering pump to the crewmembers aboard the 23-foot boat to begin dewatering efforts.

The RB-M crew towed the boat to Somer’s Cove Marina in Crisfield.

No injuries were reported.
