LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard along with state and local agencies are responding to a sailboat which ran aground on Huntington Beach, Calif., July 2, 2013.
The owner of the 30-foot sailboat was reportedly sailing it from Long Beach, Calif., to San Diego, Calif., when it accidentally grounded approximately 1 mile north of Newport Beach, Calif., at around 9 p.m., July 1, 2013.
Once on scene, the Coast Guard coordinated removal of fuel products aboard the boat with Ocean Blue, a commercial pollution removal service, to prevent any fuel product from spilling onto the beach during salvage operations.
No pollution was reported.
California Department of Parks and Recreation is currently overseeing the boat’s salvage.
