Coast Guard Responds to Barge Allision on Petaluma River

PETALUMA, Calif. – At 7:27 a.m., Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received a report that a 260-foot tug and barge, carrying sand, allided with a 34-foot fishing vessel moored at Haystack Landing in the Petaluma River here.

The fishing vessel sustained a 3-foot hole on the left side of the vessel, and the tug did not report any damage as a result of the allision. There were no reported injuries.

A 25-foot response boat, from Station Vallejo, arrived on scene at 8:35 a.m. and determined there was no pollution.

Coast Guard investigators are on scene to administer drug and alcohol tests to the crew of the tug boat.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
