Coast Guard responds to aircraft emergency

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Coast Guard received notification that an aircraft had made an emergency landing near the Ben Foyer Bridge Saturday.

The Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter and crew from Air Facility Charleston, S.C. Prior to Coast Guard personnel arriving on scene, local officials had recovered both persons aboard the aircraft in stable condition.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the incident.
