CHARLESTON, S.C. – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Yellowfin is assisting four adults on a disabled 35-foot sailboat in 15-to-20-foot seas and 35-mph winds 65 miles off Charleston Friday.
The sailors contacted Coast Guard Sector Charleston Thursday evening to report the vessel’s engine was disabled.
The Yellowfin and a HC-130 Hercules airplane from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. are currently on scene with the sailing vessel.
The Coast Guard Cutter Yellowfin is an 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat homeported in Charleston.
