Coast Guard responding to possible snorkeler in distress

MIAMI – The Coast Guard is currently responding to a report of a possible snorkeler in distress approximately 150 yards off the coast of Vero Beach, Fla., Thursday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami were notified at approximately 10:30 a.m. that a Coast Guard Auxiliarist noticed a snorkeler go missing in the waters off Vero Beach.

A Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce, Fla., response boatcrew and a Coast Guard Air Station Miami aircrew were dispatched. Also assisting in the search are a boatcrew and aircrew from the Indian River Fire Rescue.

The Coast Guard is asking that anybody with information about the snorkeler, please contact the Coast Guard Sector Miami Command Center at 305-535-4472.
