OXNARD, Calif.- The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to a sailboat that is overturned near Mandalay Beach in Oxnard, Calif. today.
The vessel, approximately 20 feet in length, is hard aground. A rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor and Oxnard Fire Department were dispatched to the scene and surveyed the immediate vicinity.
To further assess the situation, the Coast Guard launched an HH-65 “Dolphin” Helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles. The current weather on scene is 35-knot winds with combined seas of 8-feet. There is a gale warning forecasted in the area for the remainder of the evening.
