Coast Guard responding to medevac request

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard is responding to a request for a medevac of a man with head injuries from a fishing vessel in the Gulf of Mexico, Tuesday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi received a request for a medevac at approximately 10 a.m., from the Mexican Rescue Command Center in Tampico, Mexico, stating that a man aboard the Gijon IX had reportedly suffered a laceration on his head while working on deck.

Air Station Corpus Christi launched an HU-25 Falcon jet and crew and an HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew to the scene at 10:18 a.m.

The aircraft are en route to the Gijon IX.
