MIAMI — The U.S. Coast Guard and Bahamian officials are responding to a downed Cessna aircraft with one person reportedly aboard in the water in the vicinity of Lee Stocking Island, Bahamas.
Search-and-rescue coordinators at the Coast Guard Seventh District command center in Miami received the report of a downed aircraft at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday from Federal Aviation Administration in Washington D.C. Reports to the Coast Guard indicated the aircraft was in the water with one passenger.
A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew deployed to the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC), launched and is assisting in the search for the pilot.
