Coast Guard rescues woman off Tilton River

Pacific Northwest Coast Guard NewsSEATTLE — The Coast Guard rescued a 40-year-old female, Sunday, approximately 30 miles northwest of Longview, Wash.

The woman suffered injuries after being ejected from a raft on the Tilton River. Lewis County emergency response crews were unable to safely extract her from the river bank due to the steep terrain in the ravine.

The Coast Guard launched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, Ore., to assist in the rescue. The crew arrived on scene and hoisted the woman on board at 4:51 p.m.

The helicopter crew transported the woman to a Lewis Country fire station in Salkum, Wash. The woman is reported to be in stable condition.
