Coast Guard rescues woman from the water near Groton

29 New LondonNEW LONDON, Conn. ­— A Coast Guard Station New London boatcrew rescued a woman in the water near Groton, Connecticut, Wednesday night.

Station New London received a call just before 8:30 p.m., from New London Dispatch of a woman in the water near Groton on the Thames River.

A boatcrew arrived on scene and safely rescued the woman from the water, transporting her to Station New London for medical evaluation.

“We received the call and immediately snapped into search and rescue mode,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Maxwell Rozier, a coxswain at Station New London. “We train everyday for cases like this, and being able to see the crew come together and focus quickly on the job at hand is the reason we were able to find and rescue the woman.”
