Coast Guard rescues two people off sunken vessel

65 New OrleansNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued two people near the bank of Proctor’s Point in Lake Borgne, Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 6:45 p.m. from the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Department that a shrimping skiff sank and that two people swam to shore.

Coast Guard Station New Orleans launched a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew and Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew.

The helicopter crew hoisted the two people and transferred them to Air Station New Orleans where they were met me Emergency Medical services.
