PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard rescued two men after their personal watercraft overturned near the Benjamin Franklin Bridge Friday afternoon.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a call from a Good Samaritan at approximately 11:30 a.m. who reported two persons in the water clinging to an overturned personal watercraft.
A 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Philadelphia was launched to respond. The boat crew arrived on scene shortly after notification and recovered both people. They were then transported to a nearby boat ramp with no reported injuries.
“We strongly recommend that mariners wear their life jackets while enjoying their boating activities,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan McKeage, the coxswain of the response boat. “You never know when disaster could strike, and it’s always important to be prepared for anything when you’re out on the water.”
