Coast Guard rescues two men in Oswego NY

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two men after waves washed them off the breakwall, here, at approximately 4:10 p.m. Saturday.

Coast Guard Station Oswego was on patrol with a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat (MLB) when they spotted the men near the breakwall. Crewmembers from the MLB quickly recovered them from the water.

Neither of the men were wearing lifejackets. Both men were in good condition and refused medical attention.

“The waves were about six feet,” said Petty Officer Byron Wiswell, crewmember from Station Oswego. “They were lucky we happened to be so close.”

The Coast Guard would like to remind all who recreate on the water to always wear a lifejacket.
