HOUSTON – The Coast Guard rescued two persons in the waters of the Houston Ship Channel early this morning.
A watchstander at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at 1:58 a.m. today, from the Texas City Police Department reporting an overdue personal water craft with two people onboard. The pair had reportedly left from the Texas City Dike and had not returned.
Air Station Houston launched an HH-65C rescue helicopter crew and Station Gavleston dispatched a 25-foot rescue boat crew. At approximately 3:45 a.m., the helicopter rescue crew located the missing boaters in the Houston Ship Channel and safely hoisted both people.
The rescue boat crew towed the disabled PWC to the Galveston Yacht Basin.
