Coast Guard Rescues Two From Ice in Ontario

RONDEAU HARBOR, Ontario — Coast Guard Air Station Detroit rescued two men stranded on the ice on Lake Erie, just due north of Cleveland, in Rondeau Harbor today at approximately 4:45 p.m.

An HH-65 rescue helicopter crew hoisted the two and transferred them to a medical facility.

The men contacted their mother after the ice conditions deteriorated. The mother notified the Ontario Provincial Police, who then subsequently called the Ninth Coast Guard District Command Center.

Upon recovery, the men were hypothermic but in stable condition.
