Coast Guard Rescues Two After Boat Collides with break wall

MILWAUKEE – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two people after a personal water craft hit the Milwaukee break wall at a high rate of speed today.

Coast Guard Station Milwaukee responded with a 25-foot response boat to a report of two people on a 25-foot pleasure craft that struck the Milwaukee break wall at approximately 1:00 a.m. today.

The two passengers were transferred to the Coast Guard vessel and taken to shore to awaiting Emergency Medical Services.

The operator of the boat was not injured, but his passenger sustained multiple injuries including lacerations and broken bones. The owner of the pleasure craft was cited for negligent operation of a vessel.

The Coast Guard reminds boaters to be safe on the water, especially close to shore where there is a greater concentration of structures and other vessels, as well as hazards below the surface of the water.
