Coast Guard rescues three from vessel taking on water

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station New OrleansNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard responded to a distress call from three males aboard a vessel taking on water near Pelican Island, Louisiana, Thursday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call at 7:23 p.m. about a 24-foot sport fisher taking on water and launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 helicopter aircrew at 7:30 p.m.

The MH-65 helicopter aircrew arrived at 11:02 p.m. and brought two of the males back to Air Station New Orleans while a member from the aircrew and the remaining male stayed behind. The MH-65 returned at11:40 p.m. and brought the remaining male and aircrew back to Air Station New Orleans at 12:09 a.m.,Friday.

There were no reported injuries.
