SEATTLE – The Coast Guard rescued three people from a sinking boat near Grays Harbor, Wash., today.
Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor received a call at 7 p.m. that the 69-foot fishing vessel Haeshin had struck a jetty and was taking on water. A 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Grays Harbor was dispatched along with an HH-60 helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria.
The Coast Guard boat crew attempted to dewater the Haeshin before taking its three-person crew aboard the motor lifeboat. Rescued from the Haeshin were Gary Cortner of Tacoma, Wash., Bunthoeun Toun of Seattle and James Maupin of Westport, Wash. No injuries were reported.
