Coast Guard Rescues Three Fisherman

KODIAK, Alaska – A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued three fishermen from a life raft near the south end of Kodiak Island in the Shelkof Strait at 7:50 a.m. yesterday.

Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak received a call from the fishing vessel Chisik Island reporting the fishing vessel Jade Alaska was taking on water with three people on board.

An HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Kodiak and located Ralph Henderson, Jessie Cox and John Turnbow in the life raft.

All three men were hoisted into the helicopter and brought to Air Station Kodiak.

The three fishermen were taken to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center for treatment.
