SAVANNAH, Ga. – A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Savannah assisted three boaters aboard the 27-foot pleasure craft “Lucky Duck” after it ran aground near St. Simons Island, Ga., Saturday.
The Coast Guard was notified from a passenger aboard the “Lucky Duck” at 3:49 p.m. Saturday requesting assistance after they ran aground. A Coast Guard Station Brunswick, Ga., 25-foot rescue boat crew and the helicopter air crew arrived on-scene 4:42 p.m. to assist.
A rescue swimmer from the helicopter crew was lowered and transported all three boaters from the aground boat to a sea-tow vessel also on-scene. The sea tow vessel transferred the passengers to the Coast Guard boat crew who transported them ashore.
There were no reports of injuries.
