Coast Guard Rescues Person After Boat Capsizes

LINWOOD, MI (D9 Public Affairs) – Coast Guard Station Saginaw rescued one person in the water from an overturned boat six miles northeast of Linwood, MI this morning at approximately 6:44 a.m.

A 25-foot boat crew recovered one person from the 15-foot open fishing boat. The fishing boat had overturned three miles north east of Linwood, MI and drifted approximately three additional miles. A second person onboard had previously swam to shore and reported the overturned boat.

The Coast Guard utilized a 25′ and 41′ boat and one HH-65C Dolphin Helicopter from Air Station Traverse City during the three and a half hour search to locate the person in distress.
